I Can Read Your Mind

How about a bit of whimsy today? I have another riddle for you.

This one is EASY, not like the Einstein Riddle I posted here.

It will take you less than a minute to arrive at the correct answer. But you might be left wondering why I know your answer!

    Choose a number from 1 to 10
      Multiply that number by 9
If the number is a 2-digit number, add the digits together
          Now subtract 5
Determine which letter in the alphabet corresponds to the number you ended up with (example: 1=a, 2=b, 3=c, etc.)
Think of a country that starts with that letter
Remember the last letter of the name of that country
Think of the name of an animal that starts with that letter
Remember the last letter in the name of that animal
Think of the name of a fruit that starts with that letter.

Are you thinking of a Kangaroo in Denmark eating an Orange?
                      ********

If you're among the 2% of the population whose minds "think alike," all of you will arrive at this same answer.

No, I don't really read minds. Come back tomorrow for an explanation of why this works. Or perhaps you yourself have already determined that!

If you can't wait, an explanation is here.

This is great to share with children -- for them to use on their friends!

I can't help it; I just love riddles and puzzles.

Please, do share below your results. Have you previously seen this riddle?

And oh, by the way, that photo at the top: Captain Kangaroo (Bob Keeshan), of course!

(Captain Kangaroo was an American children's television series which aired weekday mornings on American television for nearly 30 years, from October 3, 1955 until December 8, 1984, making it the longest-running nationally broadcast children's television program of its day.)

                      1. Rats! I racked my brain for a country that begins with "D" but couldn't think of Denmark - which I now realize is the easy one. How about Dominican Republic, Cat, Tangerine? (The Dominican Republic fascinated me in school because it was a dictatorship.) Good idea putting the Captain Kangaroo picture up so the whole riddle didn't show on the screen. Of course now I realize it was a clue. Are you staying warm? My friend in Tulsa says it is 4 degrees there now.

                        1. Your solution works as well. But most people DO come up with Denmark; you're the 2 percent who didn't. And spoil the game for the person claiming to read your mind!

Its almost 60 degrees here today! Getting ready for rain. High Saturday predicted to be 70, then then it's going to turn really cold again early next week. It's the winter that won't end! Im sure you're not looking forward to the cold in Tulsa after being in sunny Calif.

                        1. Sometimes I have to rack my brain to get a new and different idea for posts. One can only write blogs about pets, books, gardening so many times!

                        2. I love your pet posts! And the gardening and books are such fun too. I think it's you writing it that makes your blog such fun to read. Can't wait until Summer when you will show off your garden's results in those interesting salads and stuff!

                        1. If I had a "Fashion," "Decorator," "Book," "Cooking" blog I think it would be easier to find topics. As it is I'm "All over the Board" with my subject matter. It's difficult for me to stay on the same subject for very long!

                        2. I just wished to add, that neither could I stay on the same subject forever.
I need to dive deeper beneath the surface at times. I need to know the whys and whens. You know what I mean, right?

                      6. I came up with Denmark but then thought Kangaroo seemed too obvious,so chose koala and apple... Fun game! I'm all over the place in my blog as well. I have my obsessions but they are plural, not singular. Life seems too short to limit oneself!

                      8. I was pretty predictable with the D K O. Fun to see Captain Kangaroo, one of my girls favorites when they were small.
