What Happens at the Lake Stays at the Lake

If it's the Veteran's Day weekend, it's time for the cousin retreat at DoubleHead Resort on Wilson Lake.

Located on the waterfront, the resort consists 400 woodland acres. The resort wanders along a pine and hardwood covered peninsula where the mouth of Town Creek joins the Tennessee River at Wilson Lake.

Rustic split-level cottages, privately owned, are available for rental. The cottages feature exposed beams inside and log columns on the porch.

This was a perfect ladies get-away for a few days. Although our group was smaller this year than in the past, the five of us had a tremendous time.

Three-bedroom cabins overlook the lake.

There's a man-made beach at DoubleHead, as well as riding and hiking trails, campsites and a shooting range.

Tee-pees at the campsite.

The resort takes its name from the Cherokee Indian Chief Doublehead, one of the most feared feared warriors during the Indian Wars. See the historic marker below, which has been erected at the DoubleHead Resort.

    1. Hi Beryl,
I have never seen so many matching boxes in one place; believe there were 10 in graduated sizes. We had a great time!

    1. Each year we say "if only we could live here." That's how much we love the place. It's particularly beautiful in autumn.

    1. I was so exhausted last night upon my return home that I didn't have many words so say, because we all had talked so much for three days. But I thought the photos could just as well express the story.

    1. We are determined not to let these fall "reunions" end. All of us look forward to them each year. Not everyone can make it each year, as can be expected, but so long as at least two of us can attend, we are going to continue!
